The House
The Build
We stumbled upon Blue Ridge while on a fishing trip. Realizing how great the area was, we had to come back. One trip lead to another, and being lovers of everything outdoors, we couldn’t get enough of the town and area so we began entertaining the idea of purchasing a house.
While biking the Aska Trail System, we noticed houses along the trails and immediately knew where we wanted to be. Ultimately we got lucky and acquired the lot with the Green Mountain Trail crossing the driveway. We could hike, bike, and trail run right from the front door. We couldn’t wait for the build to begin.
While looking at the houses on the market, before the decision to purchase a lot and build, we came across a really unique modern design featuring straight lines and open spaces throughout. We contacted the builder, Gnarly Home Crafters, tweaked the design slightly, and ended up with a three bedroom, three bathroom with oversized porches for entertaining.
Construction began on October 31, 2019. Shortly after we realized just how lucky we were with the lot. When we initially walked around the lot, the trees completely blocked any mountain views. We were of the belief that we were sacrificing a view for the sake of being right on the trail. As the construction progressed, we found that to be inaccurate and we did indeed have a view of the mountains to the east.
As the build progressed our dreams came closer to reality and our excitement to share the house and location with others grew. After the build wrapped up in September of 2020, we spent a few months furnishing the house and making sure everything was just right before we opened it up for rentals in December.
We are excited to share the house with you and hope it provides as much joy to you and your family as it does to ours. We really encourage you to use it as a starting point for any of the many outdoor adventures that Blue Ridge has to offer.
